Hi All. I am about to undertake a new system build and would like some feedback on compatability or any known issues with the parts in question,

Msi K9A2 Platinum 790fx v1
2x2gb Ocz HPC Reaper 1066 ram.
2x Saphire 512mb HD4870's in crossfire
Amd Phenom 9950 Black edition 125w
vista 32bit ultimate.
Alphapower 850w psu

My own research found same hardware setups,
k9a2 v1 the msi website says v1 suports the 9950 with latest bios.
as for the crossfire i read that with two 4870's installed access to the sata ports is difficult, i require 3 ports 2xharddrive and 1 dvdrw.
Am i going to be able to connect these?
Will my 850w psu be sufficient?
I have a Coolermaster elite case with 1 120m fan front pulling in, 1 120m fan rear pushing out and a smaller fan on side blowing in. Should this be sufficient cooling?
Thanks in advance.

What country are you in? If it's the USA, get the Phenom II 940+M4A79 Deluxe combo. It's a faster CPU, and a MB that can fit even two HD 4870 X2 cards (I found two Newegg reviewers using it that way.)

850W is plenty for HD 4870 Crossfire. Recommendations from Sapphire are 650W or more.

I've never heard of Alphapower. Give us the URL where you're shopping, maybe we can find you something better known.

I think the cooling will be good enough. The HD 4870 has a vent, so the hot air is kicked directly out of the case. It's not like the single slot HD 4850 cards, where you really have to worry about case cooling.

I have never heard of that PSU before. People on these forums always say "never skimp on the PSU quality." With that being said check out this website to help guide you with quality PSUs. http://www.eggxpert.com/forums/thread/323050.aspx
From using this website http://www.journeysystems.com/psu.php it shows that you only need like 550W. So you could cut down the PSU to like a 650W or 750W quality PSU. Do you already have vista 32bit ultimate if not you might want to check out 64bit to utilize all 4gb of ram. Phenom II might be a better option. You could check out and see if that MB supports them. I'm not sure about MSI MB never had one I have used Gigabyte and never have had trouble yet. I also hear Asus is good too.

I already have the psu unit it has provided trouble free service so far in my current system and im running a 4870, and i already have vista 32 bit also the ram is what i own already so the new parts are the mb cpu and an extra 4870. My mind is already made up indeed i have ordered the parts so its just a question of flagging any possible issues. Thanks for the recomends though. If the board requires an updated bios for that cpu how do i do that as i thought the cpu must be installed to update how do i get around this?
