Every reboot I get error 0 x 000 21a the only way I can seem to get rid of this error is to boot into Falcon rescue Windows XP and use XP check disk which finds a bunch a bunch of reparse attribute errors, after fixing them it will reboot . Regular check disk from the wndows 10 CD does not fix it, neither do system restore, startup repair or any other windows 10 tools. I was stupid enough to trust Microsoft and that they did a good job and deleted the 35 gigabyte windows.old dir so prev. Build is no joy. I would prefer to fix vs reset/re-inst, PS fast boot, ide, safe bios defaults etc no joy..

So was this a fresh install or update?

See if the first suggestion here helps: https://www.reddit.com/r/techsupport/comments/3ttjp3/windows_10_machine_wont_boot0xc000021a/

see if this helps:
from desktop, right click start button
choose command prompt (admin)
type SFC /scannow and press enter
once its complete, copy/paste this command into same window:
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

SFC cleans system files, DISM cleans the image that SFC gets its files from.

Yeah I already looked at that thread, have a little Powershell utility called "image health" not sure where I found it at had it forever, it runs all available image commands, sfc, restore img health, fix/store etc. from a simple menu so I 've tun everything possible from sfc to restore Health to reset/clean store excetera no joy..

Gotta Love Microsoft, the only warning you get that they're taking a 35 gigabyte turd on your computer is please do not power off your computer while shutting down...

That windows.old folder would have disappeared 10 days later anyway as the new versions only last that long.

Bug Check 0xC000021A: STATUS_SYSTEM_PROCESS_TERMINATED
The STATUS_SYSTEM_PROCESS_TERMINATED bug check has a value of 0xC000021A. This means that an error has occurred in a crucial user-mode subsystem.

did you upgrade from that win 7 to 10? as the installer won't be of much use to you if you did. One month after upgrading to win 10, your previous licence becomes a Win 10 licence.

If you hadn't used it before, its your choice... you said you didn't want to reinstall or I would have suggested fresh install win 10 instead. especially if you had never before and current install is an upgrade still. Fresh install win 10 better than upgraded from something else to win 10.

use http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/use-ubuntu-live-cd-to-backup-files-from-your-dead-windows-computer/ now if you want to save anything

Yeah this was a clean install direct from the win 10 CD I'm not sure which version whatever the one just before the anniversary edition. I was in The Insider preview program and I opted out of that and installed from the official disc maybe 6 months ago and I'm not sure why they chose now but Microsoft decided to do the anniversary upgrade. I think I forgot to disable update for my usual practice, but I had some Hardware I was trying to troubleshoot and turned it on to see if it could find a driver and didn't turn it back off so they decided to sneak on the in the anniversary edition and that was just a day or two ago and I've been having trouble ever since.

I would download the media creation tool and make a new version as it will be the anniversary edition and you won't get a new version of win 10 until next year now, they come out every 8 months or so. If you use the November 2015 version it will just need an upgrade again.

I've got backups with paragon virtual hard disk using the add new files option vs incremental backup I need to figure out how you restore from the base virtual hard drive and additional daily backups and also how to do that outside OS I think I need to find Paragons boot ISO to get this done..
