Hello all,

Im currently putting a part list together for a friend of mine so he can finally experience the joy of pc gaming. His budget is £1500 for everything including monitor and peripherals.

I believe its a good system for his budget and gets the best bang for his buck but i wanted to here any suggestions that could help improve it.

Also the reason i went for a 1080p monitor even though i plan to use a RTX2070 is to save money for better hardware and get him up and running straight away, he plans to get a better monitor later down the line.

Also the Logitech G502 Hero mouse is a personal pick so that cant be changed.

Regarding the errors that pop up on pcpartpicker about the build, all of these have no effect on the system. The motherboard is shipped with the latest bios so it will be a drop in instead of a bios flash and the clearance issue with the GPU wont be a problem as no drive bays will be there to effect it.

Quick note, all the prices have been taken from amazon so the parts can be ordered all at once.

Heres the pcpartpicker link: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/XnmMmg

Solution
I tried to set it Amazon UK prices only, but for some reason, the pricing just VANISHES for some reason, so I had to use all vendors.

unless you want the bling with the AIO for cpu. the wraith will cool that within a few C of the water. and save a little

Better M.2 but its more expensive and 2x capacity.
https://www.newegg.com/samsung-970-...ive-_-20-147-690-_-Product&quicklink=true#top

that HDD check the seagate baracuda 2TB. much faster about same price over here. not sure over there.

if he dont care about RGB you can save on your ram and get better speeds for same price.

Don't choose a 1080p 60Hz monitor, period. Let alone for something as powerful as a RTX2070. For that tier GPU, you should at least be getting a 1080p 144Hz monitor, but are more than capable of driving 1440p.

Looks like your Corsair RM850 is the old version (not the 2018 or 2019 version)

Try to fit a minimum of a 500GB SSD in the build. 240GB just isn't enough.

Sacked the AIO to pay for a MUCH better monitor. That's more important at this stage. You can always add a better cooler later without "wasting" any money. Buying that Asus VZ279HE is just throwing £150 down the loo.

512GB SSD

5700XT = RTX2070

1440p 165Hz VRR monitor

I had planned to OC the cpu to as much as i could, not sure how well the wraith cooler will be when OC the cpu so i wanted the extra saftey of keeping it cool.

Also the NVME is mainly for applications and the OS, no games or large files will be stored on it, so i cant really spend and extra £77.14 on that one item without compromising on another piece of hardware.

Regarding the HDD i will look into the read and write speeds more and make a desicion off that.

I was looking at some better RAM such as Corsairs LPX series but he wants some bling and the Corsair Vengeance Pro definitely adds that.

Cheers for your suggestions though.

@tennis2
I know that a 1080p is not suited for a 2070 but he currently has no monitor or a tv so this is a quick solution for now, he will be upgrading to a 1440p or 4K monitor in the future.

This is the PSU i have saved on amazon at the moment.

Whether or not if its the latest version it will still get the job done at a reasonable price for its efficiency and capacity.

Also as mention before the NVME is only for the OS and some base apliactions so it will be plenty. I have a 256Gb NVME in my system which i've had for nearly 3 years now and im only at 160Gb. More storage such as SSD's can be added at a latter date.

But cheers for the suggestions.

wraith cooler can handle some overclock but if your going to push it, you do need a better cooler
the ssd is one i would of recomended had he not said it first.
the HDD is 7200RPM over the WD blue 5400RMP. right there you will see an improvement when moving files. i have heard that the pc will actually slow down when having to transfer to a single 5400rpm drive over a 7500rpm drive

After seeing the prices and speed/write speeds for your suggested storage i will be swapping them in.

I had planned to go Nvidia for the real tracing, but the RX5700 is a solid card so i may swap it it in and go full team red.

The 650w PSU would work wonders but i had gone for the 850w for "future proofing", if i need to allocated more money for another part then i will drop down to the 650w.

Cheers for you suggestions mate.

@tennis2
If i can save more money on the build i will definitely get a 1440p monitor for him.

I will be going for the Barracuda HDD and i'll think about going AMD for the GPU as well.

Cheers mate.
