[SOLVED] New build: Aorus H370 mobo flashes once

Hi,

First build on a PC in 15+ years for me (showing my age a bit). Power goes on and the motherboard flashes once for a split second and then nothing.

I have the following components:

Aorus H370 Gaming 3 Wifi motherboard
Corsair CX550M power supply
Intel i5-8500 processor (8th gen) (6 core)
Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 DRAM 2666MHz (PC4 21300)
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1660 OC 6G Graphics Card

I verified the power supply works with paperclip test.

I read that this could be the BIOS but I'm not able to get any video output at all. I even took out the video card and the motherboard still flashes once. I also tried swapping the dimms to see if it was RAM installation issue. Photos links of motherboard and power supply below.

A short. Try removing the CPU and posting here a picture of the CPU socket.

Socket looks ok. Try reinstalling the CPU, cooler, both 24 and 8 pin power cables, starting the board and see if still no go.

I verified the power supply works with paperclip test.

Just to clarify, that only verifies that the PSU can power up, but not if it is delivering the correct or a stable output.

May also be worth running what alexoiu has said outside of the case to ensure that the case isn't shorting somewhere.

I did so and it is still a no go the led lights go on for half a second then quickly turn off

If disconnecting the 8 pin power cable, connecting a case fan and starting the board, does the case fan spin?

I returned the motherboard and Intel chip. I'm going to try an Asus motherboard.
