New build ASUS H97I wont post, red DRAM LED.

Hey there.

I was just setting up the build but when I connected everything it doesn't start up.

The mobo is ASUS H97I and the DRAM LED either stays solid or flashes slowly.

It doesnt beep, even if I take the ram out (kingston hyperfuryx ddr3).

The CPU is 4690k.

GPU - GTX970 G1 by gigabyte - tried to unplug it as well, with no results.

By the way I don't have the case just yet, maybe that could be the reason ?

Does it have any safety feature or something that wouldnt allow it to boot without a case or is it just dead ?

Hi, Try leaving single RAM stick installed. Test each slot.See if still red DRAM LED.
What are the last 4 digits on a sticker like http://www.guru3d.com/miraserver/images/2011/990fx-sabertooth/IMG_4499.jpg ?

Already tried all you suggested, nothing seems to help though.

The last three digits are 0505.

Then BIOS needs to be updated for supporting the CPU (2001 or later).
As options: return the board and ask for a BIOS update, borrow/buy a cheap supported CPU, try at a local PC repair shop, or order a BIOS chip on ebay and replace the board's one.
