New build booted up twice, after that I can only hear the PSU "Click" and nothing happens

So here's my situation. I am building in a NZXT H440 with the following components:
MOBO: MSI Z97 Gaming 5
CPU: Intel i7 4790k
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Seidon 240mm
PSU: Cooler Master VSM 750W Semi-Modular
Grahpics Card: MSI GeForce GTX 970 4GB Twin Frozr V Video Card
SSD: Samsung 250gb
SSHD: seagate 2TB
RAM: Corsair Vengence 2x8GB

First off, this is my first time building a PC, but I have don TONS of research. Please If you see what I am doing wrong the help is appreciated. I tried the trouble shooting guide on here, but to no avail.

Here's my issue: I installed everything exactly how I've seen it done, and exactly as the manuals specified. I powered on the first two times and everything lit up and all the fans started running which was great, and it brought up the BIOS and told me to select the proper boot drive and restart. Well I currently do not have my Windows 10 OS usb in so I could not do this yet, and I do not have an optical drive. So I decided to just power it down and wait. Then I remembered that I had case LED strips I could install, so I plugged them into one of the connectors from the PSU that was connected to the case fans and such I believe. Went to power on and.... NOTHING. no lights no fans nothing. I unfortunately don't have a system speaker to be able to listen to the beeps. The ONLY thing I hear is the clicking of the PSU when I hit the power button. What does this mean?

Hi Bama,

Clicking from the PSU is a very bad thing, often means it is failing. It happens occasionally, even with good models like your Cooler Master V series.

1) I'd start diagnosing by unplugging everything from the PSU.
2) Try plugging in just a case fan directly to the PSU and see if it will power it
3) IF the fan spins, start plugging in your components again making sure all your connections are secure.
4) Try powering on again with all your internals in place except that LED strip

After doing this if your system does not boot then I suspect your PSU needs to be sent back.

Plugging in LED light strips while powered on probably caused an arc from positive to ground. You may have damaged some part(s) since there is no fuse to blow.

You might try clearing the CMOS and a different power supply.

I am not dumb enough to plug in an LED strip while the power is on lol. The PC was disconnected from power and turned off well before I ever plugged the LED strip in.

Thanks for your insight sir. I will test the PSU when I get home, and I am hoping that it is just a faulty PSU, and that I don't have to hunt for where the problem could be if it is not the PSU

I agree, probably the best case scenario would be if the fan doesn't spin so you can be sure the PSU needs sending back. Fingers crossed it's a quick diagnosis, and please feel free to continue to post in this thread with updates if you need to.
