Hi just built first computer =
msi z87 g45 mobo, intel i5 4670k, g skill 1600 8gb ram, cooler master haf x case, cooler master hyper 212 evo cpu cooler, corsair hx 1050 PSU, msi geforce gtx 770 graphics card x1, samsung 840 pro ssd, 1tb hdd, asus optical. Don't know if all useful but listing anyway :)
All parts new, took care building, when plugged in hit power button on front case, this turns on cpu cooler fan and audio boost light on mobo lights up, front fan also spins, nothing else happens.

Any ideas on how to isolate the issue would be appreciated since I have done many things that could be the issue.
Thanks, Dean

If everything is lighting up and spinning, but you get no boot screen, that's strange. So you don't even get the "Hit Del or F11 to go to boot config" or whatever the message is?

Is the GPU fan spinning?

Check your monitor's input/output. The i5 has integrated graphics, so just to check, plug your monitor into the motherboard port, not the GPU port.

Verify that the GPU is fully seated in the PCIe slot (they can be difficult to fully seat sometimes. The little plastic thingy at the (right, if you're facing it) end of the board's PCIe slot should be locked in place.

Solution
On a new build if you get partial power on and no beeps or other response it can sometimes be an issue with the power supply or mobo. If the ram is not seated/bad, or their is a problem with the cpu you would usually get a warning or some startup beeps. A good way to test if the problem is the power supply is to borrow one from another system so long as it has enough wattage to power your rig.

I have occasionally seen issues with the power button itself also. For example, if it is somehow sticking the machine might begin to start up then just power down before the bios loads. Good luck, I hope you get it going soon. Sounds like a nice setup.
