Hi Everyone,

I am currently making a build which I was planning to use as a mining rig eventually, but just desperately trying to get the PC working at this point to start out. I followed this basic guide to get everything set up and used basically the same recommended parts:

Parts (all purchased new):
Motherboard: AMD ROG Strix B450 - F Gaming
CPU: Ryzen 5 2600x
GPU: Nvidia GTX 1660Ti
Power Supply: Corsair ax1600i
RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 4GB x 2
Hard Drive: WD Internal SSD 500 GB

After installing all of the parts, power switch, etc and turning on power supply, when I press the power switch all I hear is a click and none of the fans move and nothing seems to respond. When I press the power switch a red light also appears on the Corsair power supply. The motherboard seems to be receiving power as the lights are on. I've tried literally everything I can think of to troubleshoot this including:

  • Removing 2 RAMs and leaving just one. Moved these around to different slots, still no help.
  • Re-installed CPU, checked for any damage to CPU but it looks perfectly fine.
  • Moved GPU around to different slots, still no response from these either.
  • Tried both HDMI from the motherboard and GPU, nothing displays on monitor
The power supply seems fine as a ran the self test of this and it works perfectly.

I'm really lost here as to what could be the issue and starting to think I damaged the motherboard or CPU, or these are faulty. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Hey Alex, Everyone,

So I replaced the motherboard (brand new) and tried to run the tests again. Still having the same issue when I turn on the power switch. The motherboard appears to be receiving power as the light comes on but none of the fans turn on and nothing happens except for a click.

Does this mean the power supply is no good? I ran the Self Test for the power supply and the light comes on green and fans spin, so I'm pretty much lost as to what could be the issue. Power supply was also purchased new and is a Corsair AX1600i

Here are screenshots of what I tried and also the power supply test with green light:

Also does it matter if I am plugged into a standard wall outlet? Could the outlet or my electricity have any relation to the issue? Sorry for noob questions, this is my first attempt at a build.

Hi Alex,

So my case fans came today and I tried as you recommended, disconnecting the 8 pin CPU power cable and connecting the case fan to the board, but the fan still does not spin when I turn on the PSU. I tried this in several different fan slots on the board but still nothing.

As you can see the motherboard light is on but still no response from fan plugged in. Would this mean my PSU is no good, or the CPU?
