Hey People

I'm new to PC builds and purchased a tower etc on eBay: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/171397688036?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AI .

It came with a standard 550w PSU, I have also purchased an n.v.d.e.a geforce gtx 980 SC graphics card which lead to the new predator x34 monitor :)

I'm hoping to get the max resolution obviously for gaming etc, will this even happen with the Asus m5a78l-m/usb3 motherboard and a 550w PSU? Or should I forget it and be upgrading those too?

Motherboard info: http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/M5A78LMUSB3/specifications/

Cheers
Jess

Solution
Buy a good FX 8350 for that mobo. That card is good for the monitor. DO NOT USE THE POWERSUPPLY THAT CAME WITH THE CASE IT IS DANGEROUS. I'm not kidding one I had exploded. You should get a 750 watt one from a good brand. Make sure the tower fits a GTX 980. Overall just get a good FX8350 and an other PSU.
Update
Upon seeing it, I at a FX 6300 is too slow for a 980 and you're going to get bottlebecked by the CPU, but they CPU is okay. Consider upgrading to a fx 8350 in the future. A 750 watt is ideal and 80+ certification or better is ideal.

All in all just get a better power supply and stay with your current components

I would never consider using a 125 Watt processor like a 8350 with that motherboard.
Very poor board for that many watts.
Open the case and post the make and model number of the power supply the odds are you need to replace it right now.

Board supports CPU with TDP of 140 watts, but I guess the 6300 that came with it would work

I could care less what it says it supports you need to learn more about motherboards then start posting.

Haha is there such a word free these days? Thanks Ryan_78, I might just put it up for sale save a bit more $$ and get better components, I didn't expect to be buying such a monitor which is useless to me if I can't use it properly! I automatically assumed I'd be okay with a 6 core etc so called gaming PC, they're a bit misleading.. Oh well, we learn
