Hello, so yesterday I built my first build and everything when fine. it worked for about an hour then out of nowhere the computer shuts off and would not turn back on. I tried turning off the PSU and unplugging it for a little while then plugging it back in but that didn't work. when I press the power button nothing happens, no fans try to spin even the PSU one and also I have LED's on the motherboard and graphics card the turn on when they get power and none of them turn on or even flash when I hit the button. I'm thinking it the PSU was a faulty one but I wanted some other opinions. thank you for any help you can provide.

Good deal. Could have been a lot worse. What brand and model, by the way?

So I tested the connections and they were all god but no luck on the PC working. so then I tested the PSU like volcanoscout linked and it didn't work, so I guess my PSU is bad. I'm trying to get ahold of the store I bought it from and get a replacement.

Sounds like a plan :)

EVGA 500 watt 80+

there's no specific name just that.

That's actually the whole name for that model. That's not a bad unit, but you might try to get a refund instead of a replacement - if you can, see if you can get a unit that's higher up the quality ladder (see link below). You might have to ante up a few more dollars, but it's a worthy investment. Everything in your system is relying on the PSU to provide clean, consistent power, and to provide protection from electrical faults, so it makes good sense to get the highest quality PSU you can.
