Hello, so earlier today I bought the gtx1070 and 6600k all was well until I got to the end of the build. I made a minor mistake and ended up making it 100 times worse, the system would turn on for about 5 seconds at first then turn off. I decided instead of looking over the pc to see that the ram wasn't in all the way to just start unplugging things and constantly trying to power my computer on and off. Once I finally noticed the ram wasn't in I plugged everything back in made sure it was secure when to turn it on and nothing. It would not work. After taking a break because I was so depressed I went back to just take the build apart and notice that the motherboard was heat sinks were hot as hell and the ram/ram slots even though the pc would not turn on for hours what does this mean?

What makes you think the PSU is good?(You can test with a standard multimeter or in anohter compatible PC)
While building a PC is frustrating it can be rewarding, also one thing to say is if you've bought and installed parts generally they won't accept them back unless they're faulty or something and you can't sell parts for much 2nd hand.

If you've send it back saying it's faulty sometimes they will essentially hold it for ransom if it's fine...

Did you forget to install the motherboard standoffs?

Go through a video guide on the internet and check that everything is installed CORRECTLY, it sounds like a short or possibly a DOA/broken motherboard which rarely occurs from RAM being incorrectly installed (I've left them half plugged in etc and not even noticed!). I take it you haven't tried overclocking etc yet as of course you can't do that until it works correctly as if I'm right the K series are for overclocking.

You can run with integrated graphics and as other have said, go barebones and remove everything that isn't needed leaving only the eseentials like: the main HDD, CPU, RAM and disk drive if you're installing your OS from it.

I just decided to return the mobo back to microcenter. Lol, college is starting soon so I at least want to enjoy this last week I have. But I didn't just give up completely I took it apart twice today trying to see if I did anything wrong my psi is good so I guess it's the mobo right?

As others have said make sure you put your standoffs in:
