So I have just finished my first PC build getting excited to turn it on I hear a short beep which indicates a that the system has posted fine but when I check my monitor I am greeted with a black screen with the mouse cursor and I don't know how to get off it so I can enter the bios and boot from my usb. Please can someone help me.
My PC specs-
AMD X4 845
Gigabyte F2A68HM-HD2
Radeon HD 6950
250 GB WD Blue hard drive
1x4gb GSKills RipJaws DDR3
Thanks in advance

You could try by shutting down completely your pc and then putting in the USB in a port and then turning it on WITH THE USB CONNECTED. The motherboard should detect this as a bootable drive so it should boot up in it first.

If this doesn't work then when the PC turns on try clicking the DELETE button, not backspace and it should enter you into the bios. If not then try F12 next time.

first off, let's remove some variables...

remove the graphics card and the hard drive

now make sure the ram stick is in the correct slot as listed in the motherboard's manual (it's not always the first slot)

plug your display cable into the motherboard's built in display port.

now boot it up and tell us what happens. if it's the same thing, turn it off, unplug power supply again, and reset CMOS. then try booting it up again and report back

User11464 I did what you said and when I booted up the system I didn't get any post system beep nor was there a display the same thing happens after resetting the cmos. But when I had my graphics card in for a split second a gigabyte splash screen would appear and disappear into a black screen. Wasn't quick enough to press F11 what should I do

wait... I am stupid. this cpu doesn't have integrated graphics correct?

if so, install your gpu, making sure it is in the correct slot listed in the motherboard's manual. then make sure the gpu's power cable coming from the power supply is connected. install your display cable into the gpu's display port. you should get a display if everything works. as long as you have all hard drives removed, it should automatically go into BIOS or atleast give you a message on the display

Still getting the splash screen. Lots of videos have said that the ram may be faulty and it's usually the main cause of this so hopefully the new stocks I have ordered work if not I'm gonna return the motherboard and get a replacement get a refund on my CPU and buy an amd a10 7860k apu

Most of the time my PC is responsive to the keys I press on the keyboard but other times the computer will not respond to whatever I press on the keyboard. I will take out camos battery now. How long should I leave it out for
