Hi!

I just built a new PC with both new and old parts, and it doesn't work. First, the config:
Old (works for sure):
HD 6870 Sapphire (GPU)
2 HDDs
1 DVD reader/writer
Antec Three Hundred (Chassis)

New:
OCZ 750W PSU
FX-8350 (AM3+, 4Ghz, 8-core)
Hyper 212 EVO (CPU fan)
4x Corsair Vengeance DDR3 4GB 12800
And, lastly: ASUS M5A97 R2.0

My problem is that absolutely nothing is displayed on-screen. No POST, no BIOS.
Furthermore, when I press the "on/off" button of my chassis while the computer is booting, it doesn't shut off. EVER. The only way to shut it off is to use the PSU's switch.

I have tried:
- Updating the BIOS with the integrated function that allows me to update without a working cpu. Because it could have been its fault since the CPU wasn't supported in the mobo's early BIOS. The update was successful. Twice.
- Clearing the CMOS.
- Unplugging and re-plugging every single one of the PSU's cables
- Unplugging and re-plugging the chassis' cables.

No luck, nothing changed.

I also tried pushing the MemOK! button. All it does is make the light flash during a second, every 2 seconds. FOREVER. Without actually doing anything, or so it seems.

Since I have never seen that before, I'm not sure what to do. Is the motherboard defective?

Thanks in advance.

Sir,

This is what I would try.

Swap know good components(old) while using new components. Try the PSU first, then I would try the motherboard, seeming that this would take longer to check. If you had a failing component besides those usually a POST error would result. I'm guessing it's either the the MB or PSU. Best of luck.

Well then, I'll try that.

I'll try that.

Yup.

Good to here you isolated it. I had an old 670i board that gave me errors when I first got it. Newegg was awesome with their RMA procedures for me. Cheers, enjoy your build when it's up and running
