New Build Every Game Crashes

I just put together a new build and have had no success getting a single game to run without crashing. A few seconds after i start a game it crashes to desktop with the faulting module being nvd3dum.dll I have tried both borderlands 2 and battlefield 3. I have tried reinstalling the games and even reinstalled windows 7 and installed all drivers than ran the game again with no luck. I ran the evga gpu stress test and it ran for ten minutes with no errors or overheating. i also ran prime95 and everything was stable. I have tried multiple whql drivers from nvidia wiping the old ones everytime with still no luck. I know my card comes factory overclocked so i tried clocking it back down to stock and still nothing. I even tried installing windows 8 just for the hell of it and it was exactly the same. The computer runs perfectly except when i try to load a game. I am quite stumped here any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You

Have you tried other slots on your motherboard?

What are you installing windows 7 from, I had a similiar problem a while back after installing windows 7 using a version provided by my uni. I tried a different installer and everything ran fine.

No i have only been using the slots that the manual recommends to use, Slot 1 for vga and slots 2 and 4 for ram. But i can try the others.

I installed windows 7 from an iso i received from msdn that i extract onto my external (no cd drive) so it should be in good shape.

whats the iso called, sounds very similiar to what happened to me. I kept getting similiar eroors and .dll files kept dissapearing, coupled with similiar error messages.

ive renamed it since i got it but ive used the same iso on older builds and all was well

Ah ok if it's worked before it shouldn't be a problem now. Sorry buddy im stumped, hopefully someone else can help you out.

I had simmilar issues with my GTX 580 Classified. ran slow, crashed, got hot.. etc.
I sent the card back to EVGA for RMA and its been great ever since.

get on the phone with EVGA support and see about an RMA

Right as i was filling out the rma request i realized what i didnt try. I had my cpu overclocked through cpu step up in the bios to 4.6 and even though i thought it was perfectly stable especially since its all asus's settings and prime95 ran perfectly and my comp never crashed but i decided to give it a try with stock settings. it worked dont know why but it worked. A week of no gaming for something i should have tested from the beginning this is bs hahaha but thank you for all of the suggestions!!!

Hmm very interesting well there you go 😛 I guess the combination of your CPU being overclocked probably set off some stability when in a graphic environment.
