New build, Failing prime95 Blend, stock clocks

Thank you for taking the time to look this over.

I have just put together a new gaming build, with intention to lightly overclock, and i am having trouble passing P95 blend test on stock clocks. I am seeing fatal errors on at least one thread within 5 minutes. I have no problem running small and large FFT tests for of 5 hours or more (haven't tried more than 8 or so)

I have recently seen some success by upping the NB voltage 1.1v to just under 1.3v, 1.277 something.(using AMD overdrive).. it is currently 30 minutes into P95 blend on new NB voltage.

I would like to think that NB voltage it the ultimate fix. But i fear it is more ram related and that i will see more trouble once i OC.

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated. Ram Clocks or timing maybe? Whats the problem here?

All the hardware seems to be fine.. But still having issues with stock stability, So you would recommend dropping this AMD OD all together? Should all my voltages be taken off auto and set manually in the bios? And If so do I set to stock volts or should I give a few things more juice?

That fact that it can Handel p95 blend much better with simple a NB voltage adjustment gives me hope that my Ram an Mobo are okay..

My temps under prime95.. According to AMD OD, max core temp at 61c and max NB temp about the same 59-62c.... (HWmonitor reads the same NB temp but the cores read about 10c cooler than AMD OD

I recommend that you use "Core Temp" for CPU temps. Your CPU temps seem a little high because you're right at the CPU thermal limit and with a Hyper 212+ this would be unusual. 55C seems to be what works best for most Phenom II CPUs as a thermal limit under P95, OCCT, Linpack stress testing. Is your room temp warm? Be sure the HSF is properly seated and the fan running at high speed under max load.

I'd run Memtest86+ from a floppy, CD or flash drive to confirm there is no issues with the RAM. Mobos rarely fail or are new defective.

First, everyone, thanks again for taking the time to help.

I was very careful in installing the HSF and it would surprise me to find that this is the issue. However I am using the cooler master TIM tha comes with the hyper 212, and due to stability it has only seen maybe 12 hours of curing time under load.. (Temps are coming down) Temps from AOD are reading 58c under small FFT's now, and HwMonitor gives me 50c (51c on core temp).....(room temp 25c)

This morning I checked newegg to look at what my ram is rated at and discovered my timings were slightly off.. My mobo had it set to 7-7-7-20, and is rated at 7-7-7-18.. Since adjusting this I have seen much better stability, but not perfect, (basically no more blue screens while doing simple stuff like file extracting).. **Possibly solved??**

However I must return once more to HT and NB.. My boras is rated at 2600mhz but is auto-set to 2000, should this be turned up?

Working on memtest now.. And again thank you all for your help
 


Your stock temps should not be that high?

You may very well have a bad motherboard but first;

As suggested did you run memtest to make sure your memory modules are good, because failing P95 Blend is a indication of memory problems or possibly a bad motherboard, if your memory checks out no errors in memtest.

Then leave all your voltages and speeds on stock or auto, except your memory.

Manually set your memory speed to 1066mhz, set your voltage to 1.50v, set your timings to the listed 7-7-7-18 and use the 2T setting not the 1T, if that doesn't work leave all the memory settings the same but drop the memory speed to 800mhz, and see what happens?

If your memory modules check out OK with Memtest, and the above test drops all the way down to 800mhz and you are still stock unstable, RMA the motherboard.

EDIT: Disregard my above, the memory you bought is not listed as being supported by the motherboard, you need to RMA that memory don't even worry about running memtest, and buy memory on the motherboards memory support list, and 1066 was the lowest speed that motherboard supports you could at least go with 1333.

So first let me note that i only have 2 case fans, a front intake and a rear exhaust.. im waiting for the real cfm's to get here this week.

now correct me if im wrong. but the only thing that seems to be incompatible about my ram is that it is on bottom end of what my motherboard supports.. This is system crashing?

--current situation--
-This morning i set up the ram to the proper timing in the bois, and PASSED MEMTEST.
- it was stable according to 2 hours of AMD OC stability test. But failed P95 blend within 30 minutes
-I then went into the bios and took the HT and NB from 2000Mhz to 2200Mhz via multiplier... *and the same time overclocked the cpu at via multiplier from 3.4-3.6Ghz (for shits and giggles)*
--HERE'S THE KICKER!!--
-with HT, NB and CPU OC'd.. it failed AMD OD stability test within 30 second
-BUT, it ran prime Prime95 blend for about 3 hours no problem (avg. core temp under load 48c)

*and for what its worth, even though it fails the AMD OD stability test. it scores higher than stock 3.4Ghz in computations in all 4 categories on the little AMD OD benchmark tool. *

I feel stable.



 


Your motherboard supports 1066 memory yes, but not the modules you bought!

Click the Memory Support List button and check it for yourself, there is no 1066 G.Skill listed at all.

This is kinda a No Brainer OK, if you want to be assured of memory stability, get memory fully supported by your motherboard, running into instability at default speeds is a sure indication of trouble, if you cannot achieve stability at stock, you can completely forget overclocking period, and you are posting in the overclocking section.
 


No Offense Intended; Seriously, you need to learn what you're doing first, it's painfully obvious from this quote you don't have a clue, learn what you are doing before you damage your hardware.
