What do you think about the following items.
I have 2 questions so far about case and PSU. I was told I should get a full tower and bigger psu. I plan on OC'n once I get the a better cooler.

Case - Don't really like windows
COOLER MASTER RC-690-KKN1-GP Black

Mobo
GIGABYTE GA-X48-DS4

GPU
EVGA 512-P3-N841-AR GeForce 8800GTS (G92)

PSU
PC Power & Cooling S610EPS 610W

Proc
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450 Yorkfield 2.66GHz - If I can find it. Going Quad for sure due to vidoe conversion and editing

Ram
CORSAIR DOMINATOR 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500)

HD
Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD6400AAKS 640GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - Might go with something cheaper or better... any suggestions? I have plenty of space on my server for files.

Cooler
XIGMATEK HDT-S1283

Now please let me know your thoughts on a case and PSU. Don't plan on dual gpu now, but that doesn't mean I will in about a year. Is there anything else I could tweak to bring the cost down?

I want to play Age of Conan and my old sys will not do it. Plus convering the 100+hrs of family videos into dvds/mpegs requires 4gb and quad proc. At least that is what I told my wife :) .

I will be using Vista x64 and plan on 8gb of ram at a later date.

Looks like a pretty darn nice build to me. You could probably do fine with DDR2 800 RAM if you want to save a few bucks.

That cooler will allow you to significantly oc your CPU BTW.

Very good choices, in general. [:mousemonkey:5]

You do realize that going dual-gpu in the future will require selling the 8800GTS and buying two AMD cards for Crossfire, with that motherboard, right? Also, Crossfire (or SLI) only makes sense with high-end cards, and two of next year's high-end cards from AMD might need more power than the Silencer 610W can offer, especially with an overclocked quad CPU in there too. If you're NOT going to do dual-GPU, your current setup is perfect. If you are, I'd suggest getting the 750W Silencer.

Actually, there is a thing I'm not sure about. That RAM has heat spreaders, and may interfere with the Xigmatek cooler. If you're planning to use all 4 RAM slots for 8GB it's more likely you'll run into this. I couldn't find out if this is a problem or not. Anyway, I'd play it safe and get some RAM with a regular size.

To cut the costs:
- change the MB to GA-EP35-DS3R (I'm assuming you don't need FireWire or support for 3 monitors)
- change the RAM to this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231122 G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 ($85)

There is nothing better than the WD6400AAKS, except the Velociraptor, but that's 6 times more expensive per GB. I'd keep that WD6400AAKS.
Great case and great PSU. There are cheaper PSUs that could do the job (say, StealthXStream 600W), but the Silencer is top quality.

Ok thanks for the info.

So for OC'n I dont' have to have a full tower then?
Also will the gskill ram allow for good OC? I thought I should have the 1066 for max room to OC. I should be albe to do this with 800 ddr2?

I know about the CrossFire thing, but for now wanted the best GPU I could go with in single card mode. I am still waiting for the availablity of the newer cards to see which will do better, but for now just went with the 8800gts g92 version.

You can OC a CPU in any case you wish, if it's cool enough and the cooler fits in the case. No worries with the RC-690, it's big and cool enough.

That G-Skill goes up to about 1000MHz. Several newegg reviews say they've done that. Sure, something rated for 1066MHz should do at least 1066MHz, but it costs more. If you want DDR2-1066 that's fine, but maybe try and find something without those big heat spreaders.

2GB not enough ram for AoC on high settings,I got 2Gb of ram and when the game is running my mem sit at around 75% used, when I load a new area and there allot people in that area the ram jumps too 100% then 30 sec later it will crash. Only run out of mem and crash on loading., vista takes up like 28% of ram (with all visual settings turned off). When i start up AoC on high settings it jumps to 75%.

System specs below

MISREAD 2x2gb my bad :p Yea AoC will run grate with that set up. My system runs it fine beside the mem problem.

So you don't think I need a Full Case? I was thinking Cooler Master 1000 if necessary.

What about the OC of ddr2 800 the g.skill anyone have any luck with that?
