This system offers grate overclockability with its 1090T processor and uses AMD's best GPU chip the 6970. The 6970 is only second to Nvidia Geforce 580 GTX 150 dollars more for only a marginal gain in performance. It also upgradable to AMD's next generation processor 32nm FX processors with its 990fx motherboard which has 4x pci express for crossfire support.

1) OP clearly stated he wants nVidia + Intel
2) CF 6970's on 600W? I don't think so.
3) 4GB RAM? Gimme a break...

Games don't even use 4 gigabyte since 32 bit OS's are the standard still, anyways buying more gigabytes of ram right now is false value since their going to drop in price by a large amount in a few months. A quality 600w power supply can handle a any graphics card on the market. Forget to mention it also support Nvidia SLI. Just because he has a brand preference doesn't mean I cannot show he products with merit since he is not familiar with them.

Sure, quality 600W can handle any SINGLE GPU on the market. And OP wants dual cards in a couple of months. And please, forget 4GB, we're in 2011...

I wouldn't mind that much about the 4GB vs 8GB if the ~25$ price difference makes a difference to the OP; you will be able to run games with it no problems. The only difference is that you might not be able to keep that browser with 15 tabs opened and Word and Excel opened as well in the background 😛. However, the price drop argument isn't really a significant one IMO since prices are already so low, even a 50% price drop would only be ~25$.

If you'd follow the new builds on Tom's, you'd notice that 8GB IS the standard for any gaming machine. For $25 more, the OP gets 4GB more RAM and better upgrade capability - if he wants to, throw in 2 more 4GB sticks and you have 16. With your 2x2GB, he'd have to junk both of them...

16 gb when will that be the real world standard, not just some placebo that companies market to the average joe. 4x2gb is faster than 2x4gb, when its appropriate to upgrade ram he will save money and get more performance.

We are NOT "average Joes", we're gamers/power users.

"4x2gb is faster than 2x4gb"? Keep dreaming. And 4 2GB sticks will occupy all RAM slots, while 2 4GB will still leave room for upgrade.

I mean average joe in the context of gaming. What you don't seem to understand is by the time 16 GB of memory becomes the norm for gaming all our systems will be obsolete. Unless you have a reason to use 16 GB, gaming isn't one of them, your just falling for a marketing gimmick.

I doubt that. I know some folks who're still rocking a Core 2 Quad with nVidia 8xxx/9xxx series cards and are happy with it - all because they didn't think their setups will be obsolete. For now, 2x4GB DDR3 1600 is enough, and that's final; everyone uses it nowadays and it's the sweetest spot for gaming.

There is "some" truth to that in the sense that smaller memory modules tend to have a bit less latency (not CAS), but it would be balanced-out by the extra latency introduced by having more modules (both probably not perceivable on their own except in some static benchmark contexts). Getting 4x2GB would, perhaps, make sense if you plan to get an Ivy Bridge platform which is supposed to support quad-channel memory.

If you look at amd llano benchmarks were memory has noticeable effects having 4 slots filled brings speed improvments. I assuming this happens for all systems but in a non perceivable way.

Good to know, but it might differ from one CPU architecture to another; the memory controller would probably the big difference.
