Hey everyone. This is my first post here. Seems like the right place to be to get opinions on building a new rig. I'm building a new system from scratch that's mainly going to be used to edit HD video, play 4k video video and play a few older games (half-life & quake). Any opinions on this would be greatly appreciated. Here's what I have come up with so far.

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/Cnb4wP

CPU: AMD FX-8350 4.0GHz 8-Core $168.89
Motherboard: ASRock 990FX Extreme9 ATX AM3+ $180.99
Memory: Team Elite Plus 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 $119.99
Storage: Crucial MX100 128GB 2.5" SSD $62.99
Video Card: Gigabyte Radeon R9 280X 3GB $244.99
Case: Xigmatek CCM-38BBW-U01 ATX Mid Tower $69.99
Power Supply: EVGA 750W ATX12V / EPS12V $79.99
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8.1 Pro (OEM) (64-bit) $129.00

Again, thanks for any opinions and input.

if you could for 4k I would go up to something like a gtx 970, otherwise it looks pretty good to me. You may want to get faster ram as well.

Why the gtx 970 instead of the R9 280X? Also, what memory would you suggest?

The 970 is much more power efficient and has some more vram. I would also look into some mushkin blackline for the memory. It got a high clock and is relatively inexpensive. If you also want some more speed go with a processor like an i5-4440. Its a fast quad core unlike the 8350 which is a slower and more power hungry 8 core.
