New Build freezing on Windows 8 Login Screen

Hey All,

Put together a new system, here is what i'm running into

ASRock 970 Extreme3 Motherboard
Sandisk SSD 32GB
4x8GB Kingston KHX16C10B1k2
Sapphire Radeon HD 5450
8350 AMD Cpu

The system booted fine before the memory arrived, old memory was in slow b2 and was Elpida 2GB pc310600u.

What is running fine: Everything will boot into bios, the bios saw the memory as being 1333 so i changed that to 1600. Keyboard and mouse work in the BIOS

Symptoms: When I boot into Windows 8 the keyboard and mouse will not work. When I plug in additional USB hardware the OS does not react, which tells me it is frozen. The system works fine in the system diagnostics portion of windows. I have tried different keyboards, but the one that i use is a Logitech MK550 which uses pretty standard drivers.

You are only running with one ssd? Thats reason to worry right there.

The SSD is just for the Operating System, i'm using an HHD for files and such.

The symptoms are consistent with broken hdd, but i'm not sure they apply to ssd.
If you are able, upgrade video drivers.
And try installing OS on HDD and starting system without ssd.

Hey Guys,

Problem was with the BIOS. Tech there had me update it from 1.6 to 1.7. here is the link if anyone else runs into this

I will update this if anything changes, but it looks like 8prox64 will run with this setup.
