Hello,

Would appreciate help selecting appropriate motherboard, CPU, GPU, case, memory, power supply, UHD Bluray/Bluray/DVD/CD drive and cooling (if needed). I have an Asus 1920 x 1080 monitor that I wish to upgrade in the future so 4K would be needed.

This build will be used to manage/store/catalog audio, photos and video. The audio collection is largest in terms of number of files and folders (12,000+ album titles - 3.5TB) so I need fast backup and transfers (USB 3.1, Thunderbolt?) to external HDD's. I use Audacity, Switch Sound, Free File Sync and OrangeCD Catalog. I am in the process of transferring my Bluray collection using MKV, Handbrake, Debut Video Capture, Videopad Video Editor, Prism Video File Converter, Free File Sync and JRiver Media Center so I need some horsepower to handle these jobs as my current PC is rather slow. I plan to install an SSD to rip to afterwards all video is transferred to external HDD's and connected to Roku's. Ethernet connection is wired. I will install an HDD in tower to store the music on this desktop in addition to external HDD's.

No gaming. ATX or EATX only. Will run Window's 10. Need PCIe slot for connection of Asus Essence STX II audio card.

Thanks.

Thank you Hellfire13! I am located in Michigan, USA. I forgot to mention budget; I look for quality and the right tool for the job. I don't want to skimp nor do I want overkill. I don't really quibble about cost too much if purchasing something that I need. There is so much out there to choose from that one could spend weeks if not months searching for the correct fit.

Well, then the above build should be pretty good for you. All quality components, and the right mix of ingredients to satisfy your platter.
