I already have monitor/keyboard/dvd drive/hdd storage. I have win 7 pro retail just need help moving it from my old computer to my new one. And is it possible to run a 4 monitor setup off of one 6950?

Also is this setup ok to run 2X 6950 in crossfire later on?

1st of all, generally speaking you can't "move" a Windows installation from one computer to another, as the activation key is dedicated for the computer it was installed on.

For the 6950, you'd need an active displayport adapter just to run a 3rd monitor, and if you wanted to run a 4th you'd need a 2nd card.

There was/is an Eyefinity6 Edition 5870 card(can run 6 monitors) I'm not sure if there is for the 6xxx series cards though.

As for Xfire at a later date, yes I think the PSU and the motherboard should support that fine.

This is confusing since the card has 2X DVI outputs 1X HDMI output and 2X Displayport outputs. So 5 outputs and only 3 are usable is this correct?

And I would need a display port adapter like this one?

What I meant was format my existing computer put XP on it, and transfer my retail win 7 pro license to my new computer. I should be able to do this since I am running a win 7 pro retail key correct?

I already have HDD storage 2X 2TB drives.

I think that 64GB ssd would be to small, and the 128gb model has better read/write performance than the 64gb model.

You are correct thanks for being patient. I haven't built a PC since 2005 so I have been out of the game for a while.

I can only connect 3 monitors (2X DVI) and one by Active display port to DVI adapter like this one.

Unless I want to use a "hub" or daisy chain Display port compatible monitors looks like 3 is the best I am going to get.

OP stated that it's not an OEM copy (which would be limited to the equipment originally installed on) . It's a retail copy which has no such limitation.

I have built quite a few boxes for peeps convinced 64GB is big enough .... they're back here within 6 months will full C drives. Yes, you can keep a box trim enough to stick at 64 GB.....but it takes knowledge and effort to keep it that way over the life of a PC and many casual users are not up tot he task.

You don't say what kind of work you plan to do. Strong gaming rigs aren't necessarily useful as work rigs. Personally, I'd stay away from AMD'ATI GPUs completely. Buggy drivers.

What comparable Nvidia GPU would you recommend? I am open to suggestions.

I have the 5850 and have tried EVERY DRIVER, even the launch ones. No issues at all. And that's coming from a person who bought the 5850 brand spanking new 2 years ago. (Almost 2 years). So, I don't know what you're talking about.
