Describe your problem. List any error messages and symptoms. Be descriptive.

Put together the parts of my PC last night. Had a problem with the motherboard shorting on the chassis but fixed this. Now I'm getting 1 short POST beep when I have the RAM stick installed. And no beeps without the RAM. I'm also getting no video output but the monitor comes on when I connect/disconnect the VGA cable.

List anything you've done in attempt to diagnose or fix the problem.

I've done all the usually shit. Removed the CMOS battery. Reset the jumper. Switched the RAM between the slots. And all the combinations above. I'm going to try breadboarding it tonight as this seemed to work when I was having the problem with the shorting board.

One beep usually signals you have passed POST. Sounds more like a display issue, are you seeing your BIOS at all? Or are you literally getting absolutely nothing as far as displays go? When I wasnt getting video all I did was boot off a single ram stick after trying all of the slots, and it booted up fine. I hope you get it!

I've tried it on another display so I don't think it'll be that.

One short beep is DRAM refresh failure according to this site (https://www.computerhope.com/beep.htm). And I only have one ram stick to try. It's getting really frustrating. Thanks for the input though

I didn't check it first but I've checked it today and they are compatible.

So i would go with Power supply unit failed 2.AMI BIOS 1 short beep, did you double check to make sure all the cables are plugged in? could have been damaged with the motherboard grounding to case.

Isn't it 1 short beep :Memory Error. So it would be a memory error?
