New build GPU/SSD question

For my new build I am going with I am going with a SLi/CFX setup, gtx 660ti/670 sli. My question is for purely a gaming rig, and my previous experience with having an ssd for boot/os and games, and it was OK, not worth it right now I don't think honestly. Should I get what I was going to get GTX 670 FTW in SLi now and no SSD, or should I get GTX 660 ti SLi with 120/240GB SSD for boot/os/games?

Depends solely on what resolution will you be playing at and what fps are you aiming for?

Ok well for now I am gaming at 1080p but will probably get another monitor or two in the next couple of months or so, I want to be ahead of the game though, I am coming from a GTX 670 non-reference and I want a nice leap in performance, I was told a lot to get a single gpu, but I am not, I have the money and want a multi-gpu setup, so my options are gtx 660 ti sli or 670 sli. Basically the 660 ti sli with SSD or 670 sli without ssd. I know SSD's help in booting and loading as well as transferring files. But, I wasn't too thrilled with it with my last one I had the Corsair Force GS 180GB. I used it for boot/OS games and it was OK, I don't think it was worth the money to be honest.

I understand the appeal of multi-GPU setups very well, but you should take into consideration that you can get constant 60 FPS with a single 680 at 1080p while conveniently avoiding the additional problems brought up by SLI setups.

With the money required for 2x670 you could get MSI Lightning GTX 680 AND the SSD. It's just the optimal choice. I won't give you bad advice even if you want me to.

If you are certain about a triple monitor setup and dont mind staring at loading screens, may as well go 670s and no ssd.

I personally am happy to trade multiple monitors for not waiting to load levels. Hate that when i play on a ps3.

I understand that also, I know an MSI GTX 680 Lightning would serve me pretty well, but I know the new cards are coming in just a couple of months and I don't want to be behind the game almost from the beginning, I'd rather fork out the money and get the dual 660 ti/670 sli. But, you do make a solid point, I could definitely get the N680 Lightning and the quality 240GB SSD.

Loading screens aren't the most horrible thing in the world and it's just something I'm used to anyway really, I mean pay like another $100 or so bucks for a 120GB SSD for quicker OS boot and quicker load times and transfer rates, well I mean yes, it does make things a little easier, but the bottom line is it really has no effect on gameplay, only loading times really in the end. I don't mind waiting an extra 20 seconds or so for the OS to load, I don't mind the load screens really, everyone has to deal with them anyway, and a lot of people do not have SSDs.

I am not 100% positive on the triple monitor setup right now, but I would also like to be ahead of the game, like I said previously in terms of powerful gpu setup.

So I am a razer gaming guy, sould I just get a Kingston HyperX 120GB SSD for OS/Boot and a few games like Battlefield 3, and get an MSI GTX 680 Lightning 2GB for now? I can get a razer blackwidow and razer blackshark 2.0 headset if I go this route as well, which I really like. I guess if need be I can always sell the N680 Lightning towards a 780 when it comes out.

Sounds good to me, being somewhat of a Razer guy myself with Naga, Anansi and Carcharias. And yeah selling the 680 is viable when Nvidia unveils their next 1080 annihilating chip, though generally I'd wait for the aftermarket cards which are usually released some 3 months after the reference model. The MSI overclocks like no other card does and should be able to keep up until then.

Also I'd advice against triple monitors unless you've got tons of extra cash to toss around. I've tried it and back then it was very outdated tech sure, but it also turns into a massive budget sinkhole when you need an upgrade. To start with it requires at least 2 cards and 3Gb of VRAM to run. No cheap deal.

Just not worth it in my opinion nor in my budget, but everyone has their own.

680 + ssd all the way. sli is slower than you might think, has compatibility issues and microstuttering, the ugliest thing on earth.
careful with razerproducts. 4 razer diamondbacks(in a span of 6 years or so) died on me and a lycosa(keyboard) presses random buttons for me... . no razer for me anymore.

I am truly happy with razer products dude, my blackwidow ultimate I used to have was an amazing keyboard, also my old razer naga was very good, now I have a razer naga 2013 and am going to order a blackshark 2.0 headset and blackwidow expert 2013. What do you guys think of my final build? Anything I should modify?

i would go for more ram, a samsung ssd and at least a 2tb hdd. but if you rly ONLY want to play, your setup is okay.

Yeah, dude are you kidding I don't need more then a 1TB for data/storage man lol. Why a Samsung SSD, this one is fast and reliable, plus cheaper then the Samsung.

Performance-wise the Kingston HyperX3 is faster then most at the price range around $110, and works with my budget and build. The Samsung 840 is a bit slower and the same price.

on ssds i would rly take the reliability into account. intel and samsung are the top dogs in that department. kingston is a quality brand too, but i have no idea where they are reliability wise with ssds.

Yeah, Kingston is pretty good I think, plus the performance is pretty good on the 120/240gb models.
