You would save 15 bucks with the sapphire(if the MIR goes through), but I don't think it's worth it to drop from 2GB to 1GB. Games are already starting to take advantage of a 2GB frame buffer over a 1GB(Skyrim with better textures being a prime example). 2GB will be more future proof.

My rule of thumb for a balanced gaming PC is to spend twice your cpu budget on the graphics card. It is that important.
In this case, if you are willing to spend $220 on a 3570K($180 @ microcenter), then you should be willing to spend $400 on a GTX670 or 7950 class card.

Now, I would still buy the 3570K because I think it is a 4 year card, and you can always sell and replace your graphics card later.

I see no reason not to buy a cheaper M-ATX Z77 based motherboard. How many expansion slots do you really need?

Is HIS a good brand? Honestly I have not heard about them until recently, the last time I bought a graphics card I got a gtx 550ti, so I had no need to be looking around. Also, already bought the CPU and mobo, they are on the way.

I guess I could get a cheaper mobo then and spend more on the GPU. Too bad that the 3570 @ microcenter is only for in-store pick up. The closest one to home is about 3 1/2 hours away. I got the 3570K for $214 at newegg.

HIS is a very stable brand rock solid even. They have been around forever so they are pretty reputable.

I would however recommend sapphire for overclocking

What case do you have? Also, did you get in on that bundle of 2x4GB crucial ballistix sport ddr3 1600 free with the mobo? If so, why get the ripjaws? Will those even fit under the hyper 212? Looking at newegg user reviews, The highest overclock on that Sapphire HD7850 is 1050 gpu. The highest overclock on the HIS hd7850 was 1200 gpu. Maybe that's ironic(sapphire has a dual fan cooler with copper heat pipes, while the HIS uses a more reference style blower cooler). The sapphire is 8in while the HIS is 9in. Maybe more room on the HIS for extra power circuitry? No, pcb length is about the same, but the cooling shroud on the HIS is longer. Both have the pcie 6pin connector off the end of the pcb, not the edge. The more reference style cooler is quite effective at overclocking a hd7850 while keep cool and quiet. The HIS does tout solid state caps for better power quality/stability that could have an effect on the ability to overclock the card. If you did get that ram kit free with your mobo, I see why you did it(well regarded board in the professional review community plus a free kit of ram with a $50 msrp. Totally worth it imo(plus you can add a second hd7850 for crossfire later on if you want to on that mobo).

I got a thermaltake new soprano snow edition, it allows the installation of video cards up to 12in. In regard to the crucial bundle it just came out this morning. I ordered the mobo 2 days ago so fml. I will probably go with the HIS 7850.

That case looks pretty decent(and quiet). Not the price range I'd spend on a case(maybe 1/2 to 1/3 of that, but that's me). I guess you pay a notable premium for the snow version over the standard thermaltake soprano. I'd go with something more understated(like black). Again that's just me.

I didn`t notice the RAM was only 1Gb I actually have that card but the prices for it are much cheaper in Canada so I guess I assumed it was the 2Gb by the price on newegg.
