New build has no display

the computer boots and posts fine, but there is no display. is this a bad graphics card?

Post the full specs of your rig, also onboard or discrete graphics? And is everything hooked up to the power supply?

boots and posts? how do you know that? display work for that?

everything is connected properly. no onboard graphics. The monitor worked fie with my old system. When I turn the system on, I get the single beep from the speaker (thought this was good?) At no point do I get any display on the monitor.
