New build - HDMI - Integrated Graphics - No Signal to Monitor - Having trouble diagnosing

I am helping my parents by building them a new computer. I am no expert myself, as I have built two computers previously, both got built smoothly. I just finished building the computer and turned it on for the first time. Lights, fans, my DVD drive (was about to install Windows) is working well (but not my keyboard or mouse, more on that in a minute). But my monitor is not receiving a signal. Since my parents don't do anything but use browsers and Microsoft Word, I did not buy a graphics card. The CPU/motherboard I bought should have integrated graphics. The motherboard has only an HDMI port coming from the back, so I am using that (opposed to DVI or VGA, which the motherboard does not have). I am using a monitor that has HDMI, and am using that as well. Additionally, my keyboard and mouse were not working. I am not sure if this means I hooked up the USB chords incorrectly, or peripherals like that won't work without Windows, but the keyboard works on my other computer when plugged in. I am not sure if these problems are related or not. I plugged the keyboard into the Motherboard USBs also (no chance those are plugged incorrectly), and the keyboard still did not light up.

These are the diagnostic steps I have taken so far, with no luck:
1) tried starting with 1 RAM stick in each slot, with both RAM sticks
2) use a monitor I know that works
3) Read the motherboard manual (no help)
4) try a different HDMI chord
5) I checked the CPU and CPU port on the motherboard for bent pins like I read I should do. I am not sure what normal pins are supposed to look like, but here is a picture. It seems like half of the pins are bent.

Maybe this is the problem? If the CPU is not working properly, that might explain the lack of signal to the monitor and USB ports not working?

I am lost, and need help figuring this out. I was thinking it might be worth just buying a 40 dollar graphics card just so I can run the system better/diagnose the issue better. Any help is appreciated, and let me know if you need any information from me. Thanks everyone!

Was it a brand new board? Have you tried resetting the CMOS?

Yes, every part, including the board, was new.

What is CMOS? How do I reset it?

It will tell you how in manual, but easiest way is disconnecting power supply then removing the CMOS cell battery for 15 seconds or so, but that resets BIOS back to factory settings and if it's brand new it shouldnt need it, although if you have booted with RAM in different slots it may be worth a try

I dont think that should matter because I only messed around with the RAM after I had these problems. I just tried it anyways, nothing changed. The monitor is not recieving anything and the keyboard is not lighting up (like it does on my other comptuer)

Every time you change RAM slots you probably need to reset CMOS.. The USB ports not working is usually a Windowsfast boot function but that shouldnt matter yet. Try plugging keyboard in to a USB 2.0 port. Maybe you didnt connect it right as apart from resetting BIOS, if its all brand new theres no reason it shouldnt boot to BIOS

Ah, I see. Well, it didn't work either way I plugged the keyboard into 2.0, 3.0, front of case USB, and motherboard back of case USB, and none of them worked. And yes, I am confused why it wont go to BIOS, read my keyboard, or send a signal to my monitor either.

I was just able to take pictures of the CPU port, are those pins bent? Could that be the issue?

Cant see a pic, but yes bent pins are a common cause of new build failures. You are unlikely to get warranty replacements fot it either as they will claim user damage so if you cam, try bending any pins carefully back into place and reinstall cpu. If you're lucky it'll work.

Do these links not work? Not the best quality, but you can see the reflective half (bottom/left half) seem to be bent downwards

Can you plug a speaker into the internal speaker? If you have one. To listen for diagnostic beeps? Half the pins always face a different way. Thats the way the socket is designed..

Ok, good to know the CPU socket looks normal. As for the internal speaker, yes, I plugged it in. No beeps or sound on boot, so nothing seems wrong there. I also tried using a different hdmi cable from the motherboard to the monitor, but same thing is happening. Any ideas?

Seeing as you have never used it, there is no other reason for it not to show display unless it's faulty hardware or external monitor problems. The board will be defaulted to display from it's iGPU, and if it only has one video output, assuming everyhting is correctly connected, will work.

with no RAM in, there are no beeps from the speaker. I don't know what that means. I reset the CMOS correctly as far as I can tell. If it is faulty hardware, what could it be?

Depends on your board. If you have nothing attached but power supply and there are still no beeps it is definitely a faulty board. Is there actually any power to the board? Did you connect both 24pin and 4 pin power supplies? Is there a fan plugged into the cpu_fan header?
