Hello all! I’m trying to build a pc for video editing (DaVinci Resolve) and light gaming, and I’d love some advice on what parts to pick.
Approximate Purchase Date: This week
Budget Range: 1200-1400 US
System Usage from Most to Least Important: Video and audio editing, light gaming, streaming,
Are you buying a monitor: No, I already have 2
Parts to Upgrade: New build
Do you need to buy OS: Yes, Windows 11 Home
Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Amazon Prime, NewEgg, B&H, anyplace really
Location: Austin, TX
Parts Preferences: Intel CPU preferred but not mandatory. I’d prefer a white case for aesthetics, no led or clear sides needed, but quiet would be great as it sits next to my bed!
Overclocking: No
SLI or Crossfire: No
Additional Comments: My research indicates at this price point I’m probably looking at 16 GB RAM, a large (4 Tb?) HDD for project storage and a 1 Tb SSD for OS, program files and project space, but I’m happy to listen to any advice to the contrary
And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: I changed jobs and my old company left me my monitors and took my CPU, so I’m taking advantage of the opportunity to build a system I’ll enjoy.
