I'm building a new system. Probably my 5th one and 8 year since my last. It's time for all new parts and a case. I've decided to go smaller with the Antec P5 case, Which is Micro. So many decisions to make but I know I'm doing 1th Gen Intel i7K. I wanted to stick with an Aus Tuf board and recently found out the new790 boards are coming out in a few days. I'm mainly just home stuff, video/photo rendering and stock charting. I always have alot of window tab opened too. So no gaming unless the kids take over the computer.
Question: should I be looking at waiting to get a 790 version board and DDR5? Last April I narrowed it down to the Asus Strix Z690-G or Asus Tuf B660. Do I need to worry about using DDR5 for future-proofing? I'm likely to keep this system for at least 5 years but DDR5 I'm stuck on.
I like the idea of my p5 micro case just to have something smaller. Also I always use a two-monitor setup. I could never go back to one monitor. OMG two i so great!
