Hi,
Wondering if I could get some help with a budget build.
I have a couple of options and need some help.
Build 1. Intel g3258 with msi krait edition z97 with 16gb Kingston fury x ram.
Build 2. I3 4170 with same board and ram.
Build 3. Fx 6300 with same board and ram ( board will b the am3+ version)
Both the g3258 and fx 6300 will b oc'd to over 4 ghz thanx
reason for build would probably help....
i mainly play warcraft although i do sometimes play other games but nothing like cod. also im a student engineer so i will eventually start using autocad and othe engineering programs but most likely only 1 at a time e.g i will either b playing games or working

i realise nothing is future proof i just thought that the 1150 socket has more options that the am3+. like in 2 years buy and old 4770k or something similar for a couple hundred instead of the 500+ that they r now

i5 + H97 + 8gb ram = win?

You should be able to get those for the same price point as the parts you listed above. Honestly you will be better off with an i5 over 16gb of ram, and it is easier and cheaper to upgrade ram than to upgrade a processor.

What is your budget and what country are you buying from?

my budget is $500 and im in australia

With the options presented and the tasks at hand I have to lean towards the 6300. The additional physical cores will offer an advantage in cad programs and other workstation type apps. 1 vote for AMD in this situation as it can manage those apps better and will play warcraft just fine. Faster RAM will be a plus with AMD.
