So my friend was looking for a $500-600 build for a gaming pc. I was wondering what would be the best stuff for, well, a gaming rig. Thanks :)

There's a sticky on how to ask for a build.

Try -

CPU: Intel Pentium G3258 3.2GHz Dual-Core Processor ($62.99 @ Amazon)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($29.98 @ OutletPC)
Motherboard: ASRock Z97 Anniversary ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($76.98 @ Newegg)
Memory: G.Skill Ares Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 Memory ($70.98 @ Newegg)
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($47.89 @ OutletPC)
Video Card: Gigabyte Radeon R7 260X 2GB WINDFORCE Video Card ($159.99 @ NCIX US)
Case: Corsair Graphite Series 230T Black ATX Mid Tower Case ($69.99 @ Amazon)
Power Supply: XFX 550W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply ($48.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Total: $567.79 plus OS

Does that CPU come with a Heat sink?

I have the CM Hyper 212 evo on my rig, but he doesn't plan on overclocking. My friend has a stock heat sink and it works fine for him. I don't think he'll need an aftermarket.

In that case I'd save the money you would be spending on the Hyper 212 and Z97 motherboard and invest in a low end i3 and an H97 motherboard like this:
