New build installing windows 7 cant find drive.............????

New build:
MB Gigabyte z77-HD3 Bios is new for me so it is probably some setting i did or did not do but any help, like I would!


THe new drive shows in bios but when getting to the screen on windows install where it ask what drive to install on nothing shows up



I put old drive with vista back in machine and boots up just fine and shows both drives the new one and one with vista. I put windows 7 in to install while running off vista and it only gave me the old drive with vista to install on....i did format the new drive while i was up with vista but it still wont show as a choice for install>?

No they are not otherwise it would not show at all anywhere

In your BIOS under "boot order", set the optical drive first and the new HD second and remove all other choices. Normally, you don't have to have a clean HD for install, but if you are having problems, try deleting the volume on the new drive in Disk manager to bring it back to new condition, un-formatted. The windows install disk will format the new HD and install the boot partition and the OS all in one step.

if you have access to another computer partition the hard drive and then put it back in your new build and try it
