Hi everyone, I need some help with the new computer I built. Basically my old PC stopped working about a week ago so I decided to build a new one. Below is a list of all the components I used in the build:

Thermaltake Case - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811133094

Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 (Rev.4) Mobo - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128514

AMD FX-8350 Vishera 4.0 Processor - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113284

8GB (4GB X2) Team Vulcan DDR3 1600 RAM - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820313345

Kingston SSDNow V300 Series 240GB SSD - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820721108

Thermaltake TR2 TR600 600W ATX12V PSU - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817153166

Lite-On DVD Burner - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827106289

ATI Radeon HD 3800 Series Graphics Cards - Not sure exact specs of this, a friend gave me 2 of them to crossfire but I only installed 1 for now.

Now to my question, after building this system I turned it on, installed Windows 7 Ultimate x64, ran the drivers disc from my motherboard and all was well. When I was installing the ATI drivers my system completely powered down. (I'm not sure if the fact that I was installing graphics drivers is relevant) After it powered down I tried to turn it back on and it would not power up, no sound no fans, just nothing at all. At that point I started troubleshooting and unplugged the power cord from the wall as well as the back of the PSU. When I plugged it back in viola, it powered back on. I continued with installing drivers ect.. and it ran well. I then started installing a game that I play (Final Fantasy XI) and while it was running updates the system powered down again. I should point out that while this was happening I was using my old graphics card from the computer that stopped working, it was an ATI HD-4350.

At that point I decided that my power supply may be faulty. I went back and read the Newegg reviews on the PSU that I bought and seen there were several complaints about this unit. Anyways, I ran out to the local PC shop and bought the only PSU they had that was even close to the specs I needed, the new one was a 550W instead of a 600W like the one posted above. Again, I installed that PSU and everything booted up fine. I decided to go through the exact same motions with this unit to see if I could replicate the crash and sure enough, as soon as I tried to load up FFXI it powered off again. Once again I had to remove the power cord from the psu and the outlet to get the system to reboot. This time I left the system idle on the windows desktop while I called a friend asking for advice (the friend that gave me the newer graphics card). While we were chatting the computer powered off yet again, I would guess that it was only running for about 5 minutes. I then started to consider that there might be a problem with the graphics card since it was the only component from my old pc that was used in the new one and also since the computer seemed to crash most often when I tried to load something a bit more "graphical". So after driving across town and getting the new(er) card from my friend and installing it I tried yet again. And I THOUGHT that it was fixed. I was able to log completely into the game and actually run around for awhile. After about 10 minutes the system powered down again. At that point I realized that neither of the PSU's I had bought were faulty, and that, while the graphics cards my friend had given me were a huge upgrade to the one I was using, graphics weren't the problem either.

So that is were I am at now. I apologize for the wall of text but I wanted to give as much accurate information as I could. Currently I'm leaning toward the idea that my PSU is not faulty, I believe that my system is just under powered. Before I go buy yet another PSU I wanted to get some insight from people much more experienced than myself. The only other thing that I can think of besides the under powered PSU is that my mobo is messed up or that my cpu is over heating (which I highly doubt because I ran CoreTemp during the entire process and it never went over 42 C) Please help me out, I'm starting to lose my mind here ;) Thanks

Yea, I ordered the parts from Newegg and put it together. I've built many PC's in the past but have never run into any issue like this before. In all fairness though, the last PC I built was 5 years ago so a lot of technology has changed since then.
