New Build Microphone won't work.

Just build a new gaming PC. Everything has been great but I can't get my the microphone on headsets to work. I've tried two different headsets that both work fine on my laptop. The audio on my headsets works when plugged in and my computer recognizes that the microphone is plugged in but isn't picking up any sound. I've uninstalled and reinstalled drivers. I've made sure the mic is set as the default device. I've turned the levels up as high as possible.

What can I be missing? Could my computer be broken?

1| When posting a thread of troubleshooting nature, it's customary to include your full system's specs inclusive of your OS. We're left guessing what you have and who could be the culprit.

2| Have you made sure your motherboard BIOS is up to date?

3| In that respect you should include the headsets that you've used to rule out that your system's mic ports(or at least the soundchips mic is not working). Might I go as far as to ask for your laptop's specs? There are instances where some headsets have 3 or 4 rings on the 3.5mm jack thus all the questions.
