Hello:
**Credit of this build list goes to forum member Goodeggray** He pointed out most of these deals for me.
I am building my little sister (17yrs old) a new desperation, cheap, system. Goal is to surf internet, you tube, and play games. As Far as gaming, I am interested in a machine that will play new games on the market low to medium settings (FPS 30+). I would like this rig to last a couple of years, then can be easily updated with some more ram and a video card.
Setup so far is (all prices after mail in rebates):
AMD FX 4100 Black Edition 3.6GHz Quad-Core Socket AM3+ -- $90

Gigabyte GA-78LMT-S2P Socket AM3+ 760G mATX AMD Motherboard -- free w/cpu purchase

NZXT Classic Series Source 210 Mid Tower ATX Computer Case -- $18

Corsair Builder Series CX500 500 Watt ATX 12V Power Supply -- $50

Corsair XMS3 Series 8GB DDR3-1600 (PC3-12800) CL9 Dual Channel Desktop Memory Kit -- $30
http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.aspx?sku=102806
I have a hard drive, a optical DVD RW/DL drive, copy of windows 7 (64bit), and a VisionTek 4670 1GB DDR3 gpu.
I still need to pick a monitor and GPU
gpu's i am considering
R77702PMD1GD5OC AMD Radeon HD 7770 OC 1024MB GDDR5 PCIe 3.0 x16 Video Card -- $108
http://www.microcenter.com/product/385422/R77702PMD1GD5OC_AMD_Radeon_HD_7770_OC_1024MB_GDDR5_PCIe_30_x16_Video_Card
01G-P4-2650-KR NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650 1024MB GDDR5 PCIe Video Card -- $100
http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.aspx?sku=948802
Monitors I am considering
Auria 720p 19in wide screen -- $72.00
http://www.microcenter.com/product/363715/19_LED_Monitor
Total: $348 with monitor and gpu upgrade.
Should I get a higher reso monitor? Are the GPU's i suggested too good for cpu? do you think I could even get away with throwing in the 1gb 4670 radeon to get by or the next year? Any other thoughts? Thanks so much for reading, and any input.
I know the 4100 is not great for gaming, but a 3.6 quad CPU w/ decent motherboard for 90..bucks..Cant beat it, I don't think! I could upgrade to a 6300, or even a 8100 for $20 or $30 bucks, but if I did that, i feel i should prob upgrade motherboard as well.
