New build, no display

Just assembled this new build yet I am getting no display. When it's powered fans go but nothing happens. Followed most of that stickied checklist to no avail. System speaker is in the mail thought I'd ask here in the meantime.
Mobo: 990fxa-ud5 r5
Cpu: Amd FX 8320
Gpu: MSI r9 280
PSU: corsair CX 750
Ram: Kingston 4gb 1.5v 1615 x4

I've tried with a HDD and ssd and both. Gigabyte support is not being helpful.
Any thoughts would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

strip it down to the basics. try with just cpu, 1 stick ram, gpu. dont bother adding SSD or HDD til you can get it to post.
