Hi,

Here's my build, from http://www.xtremegaminerd.com/build-a-600-elite-gaming-pc/:

AMD FD6300WMHKBOX FX-6300 6-Core Processor Black Edition
Gigabyte ATX Socket AM3+ AMD 970 Chipset 2000MHz DDR3 SATA III 6Gbps Ready AMD 9 Series FX Motherboards GA-970A-D3P
Corsair Vengeance 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR3 1600 MHz PC3 12800 240-Pin DDR3 Dual Channel
XFX R9 380X DD XXX OC 990MHZ 4GB DDR5 DP HDMI 2XDVI Graphics Cards, R9-380X-F24M
WD Blue 1TB SATA 6 Gb/s 7200 RPM 64MB Cache 3.5 Inch Desktop Hard Drive (WD10EZEX)
EVGA 500 B1 80+ BRONZE, 500W Continuous Power, 3 Year Warranty Power Supply 100-B1-0500-KR
Thermaltake Commander MS-I Snow Edition VN40006W2N No PS Mid Tower Case (Black/White)
Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120mm PWM Fan (RR-212E-20PK-R2)

I assembled all the parts, and when I went to boot it up there was no output. The cpu fan and case fan run, the case lights work, the hard drive runs and the case light shows that the hdd is working. The GPU fans repeatedly cycle on and off. The system speaker never makes a peep.

I used the "No POST" checklist and went through all the steps, still no luck. I hired a local computer tech, who said it was the video card. I tried a different video card that doesn't require power, still nothing.

Appreciate any advice, thank you for your help.

update 6/10/16: I was reading through the motherboard specs and notices my memory is not on the approved memory list. Could this be causing my issue? I bought a compatible stick of RAM, still the same whether using VGA or HDMI

update 6/10/16 1pm: it looks like the motherboard may not be compatible with the processor. at least not without updating the BIOS. Unfortunately, I cannot get to the BIOS because the system won't POST.:/ Is there anyone who can recomment another motherboard for these components?

What connection do you have between the PC and monitor? If its HDMI try to use the VGA instead as drivers generally need to be installed on the PC before the HDMI connection will work, however VGA should work out of the box.

Thank you for your response. I bought another video card to test with. It has VGA, but that did not work either.

Is it possible I have a bad motherboard or cpu?
