New build not working

i just built a pc and i tried to start it by pressing the power button and there was no sign of life in the case so i double checked everything
tried to jump start the whole pc didn't work
tried to jump start the power supply only and it worked perfectly

my specs are
i5-6400
gtx 1050
evga 500w psu
corsair vengeance lpx 8gb stick

Any signs of life from the motherboard if you boot it up without the GPU installed? It's really hard to determine if the fault is the motherboard or the CPU (or both) unless you have a spare to test with. A faulty RAM stick can also cause it to not POST but since you only have ONE stick, it's hard to determine.

take the mb out of the case see if it shorted. wiht no gpu see if you can get the onboard video to post.
