What i thought was a power on/no display problem has turned into a no power/lights/fan unless the front panel usb is incorrectly seated and covering 8/10 prongs.

This is my first ever build so sorry ahead of time if it sounds like i did anything stupid. So my first mistake was thinking the front panel usb from my case needed to have the USB3 and the regular usb connected to the motherboard. i had the usb3 cable connected to the motherboard, and then took the regular usb that split off of it and plugged it into f_USB1 (except i didn't plug it on correctly) it was offset by a row meaning it only covered 8 of the 10 prongs(well 7 of 9 since the one spot is empty)

i went through everything else setting this up and my computer turned on. The lights, fans, hard drive, video card fans, etc all started up however there was no display to the monitor. upon checking everything else's connection i found that i had that usb plug in incorrectly. upon fixing that now nothing will power on. i am at a complete loss.

Solution
Since you plugged the USB 2.0 cable incorrectly, you short-circuited your MoBo and quite possibly, PSU as well.
While no display issue usually points towards dead MoBo, 0 life out your PC points towards dead PSU.

At this point and at minimum you're looking towards new PSU. At worst, you're looking towards any component PSU was connected to and provided power. So, without a new PSU, preferably Seasonic (Focus+) and not Corsair (CXm) unit, there's impossible to tell if your mistake caused any other component to fry as well.
