New build or upgrade current build

Hi I was looking at the recommended specs required for running Watch Dogs
(here's a link http:// for those who don't know what they are)

I noticed that my current rig couldn't handle it as I would want to play it on high/ultra, would it be better for me to build a new rig or are there some components I can just upgrade in my current build. I wouldn't really want to spend much more than £500 for the new build as i've got a monitor, keyboard, mouse etc

Processor - AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 955 @3.2 GHz
Video Card - AMD Radeon HD 6870
PSU - Corsair TX650W
Memory - Corsair XMS3 4GB (not sure what speed)
Motherboard - Asus Crosshair IV Formula
HDD - Crucial m500 240GB
- WD Caviar Black 640GB

IMHO, overclock that 955 and run that rig until you just can't take it any longer. The Phenom II (C3 revision) is still fairly solid even though it is a bit dated. At the stock speed it can be a bit clunky. With an aftermarket CPU cooler it will respond very well to an overclock. On the GPU front, anything you add to that system now can be moved to a new build down the road. No lost investment there... Same goes with DDR3 memory and a PSU. Maybe you invest in a CPU cooler (Hyper 212 EVO), memory and a new GPU, but again IMHO keep running that rig.

Alternatively on the GPU front, the aftermarket is abundant with used HD 6870 GPUs. It would be cheaper to add a second to your system, but you wouldn't want to carry them forward to a new build. Running these two 6870 GPUs would push your exiting PSU to the limits..

Okay i think that's the cpu cooler i have actually, my idle temps hover around 43 degrees on stock is that right?
ive had a look at getting another 6870 how much do you think i should pay for one, i've seen a few on ebay that go for around £60-70 is that good or a bit steep? and i'm definitely going to be investing in some RAM any recommendations? 8 or 16 GB

I think you have a relatively well balanced system now.

The link indicates that the game is cpu intensive.
Your current graphics card is stronger than the recommended graphics.

If you can, just run the new game with what you have, and then decide if you still want it to perform better.

If you do want an upgrade, your budget should allow both a good cpu/motherboard and graphics card replacement.
