I have not partitioned anything. I did already install Windows 8.1.
When I went to install Adobe Creative Suite to C: it tells me there is no room even though it says I have 890gb of 931gb free. My question is do I have to partition to install programs?

No, you do not have to partition anything.
Nor should you.

You have a 1TB drive?
OS installed on this?
And Adobe is complaining?

1. What exact steps did you do to install this?
2. Where did you obtain the Adobe suite?
3. Please show us a screencap of your disk management window.

I installed Windows 8.1
Installed gpu drivers
then attempted Adobe install (Suite is legit hard copy with serials and registered with Adobe in my name)

Installing that Adobe suite, it selects the default as the C drive?

I see no issue, nor why it should not install properly as far as drive space.

What is the 'exact' error message you get?

Installer is asking for folder to copy to, and has C:\Program files (x86) by default. It also hows that C: has 0MB available.

OK, this is odd.
Where did this Win 8.1 install come from?
How old is this install?

Windows 8.1 is straight from boxed cd full version 64bit

edit: yeah doing all this just installed today.

What is your antivirus and malware situation?

There should be no reason for this.

Just Windows anti v at the moment. I have xfinity account so was going to install free Norton stuff after I was done with Adobe .

I tried again and in addition to before mentioned it now says: that (C:\ Program files x86) the folder I have selected is marked as read only

1. Does any other application you try to install do this same thing?
2. Do NOT install that Norton crap.

I'll try something else. What antivirus would you suggest. And Malwarebytes is good no?

1. Install some other application. Let's see if this is Adobe, or a general system issue.
2. AV? I use BitDefender.

Ok, I sucessfully installed Steam into program files x86 no problems

So far, this points to a problem in your Adobe install situation.

if you can download the relevant Adobe thing direct from Adobe.
Then try to install again.

This worked although I had to call Adobe because it was a hard copy and not something I had downloaded from their site. But having the serial number and it being registered to me allowed them to let me download their files. Cheers!
