I build my first PC.

Parts:
FX8320
ASUS M5A78L-M LX PLUS
R9 270
8GB crucial ballistix DDR3
Corsair Carbide 200r

This is my first pc build, i put it together, it started right up, installed windows, downloaded all my programs, and played morrowind for a few hours. I had t restart it a few times for installations and it started back up everytime.

Turned it off for the night, and let it sit for a few days, went to turn it back on today and nothing. I was tinkering with it and after plugging it back in it started right up (without pushing the power button) and all the fans came on, Turned it off to try again and nothing.

I tested the psu with a paper clip and the fan came on.
I unplugged everything but the cpu and fans and 1 stick of ram and still no power.
Also took the mother board out with just the cpu and ram in and hooked the power supply up and jumped the power button, nothing.

I did notice I only had 4 standoffs in and I didnt install the two lowest ones,

Any ideas?

I am experiencing the exact same problem. I had not completed the build but was using the power to test out the components (e.g. SSD, Optical Drive, LED, fans) and all was working. Then installed motherboard in PC, plugged in cables and turned on computer to start Win 7 install. Nothing. LED on MOBO lights up but nothing else responds at all.

PC Specs:
ASUS A88x-Pro
AMD A-10 7850k
Ballistix 16GB Ram (2 x 8GB) DDR3
Samsung Evo SSD 250GB
ASUS DVD-R Optical Drive
EVGA 500W 80Plus Bronze
Sentey BX1-4824 Plus

Any suggestions and ideas appreciated. Motherboard and CPU BIOS updated previously. when released but wondering if a new BIOS driver and firmware update is needed. Thanks.

Thanks for the heads up. I plan on taking the whole thing apart tonight to start over and see what happens. It was working with no issues prior to the final install of the mobo and the cabling. I just thought it about now and realize that I have two fans on the roof of the case and their wires are running behind the board to a connection. I will move those and look to see if there is anything else that might be coming in contact with the mobo. If my cables have to show more than I would like to make the PC work correctly, so be it.
