New build plan

hi guys my old e6300 has been roasting at around 80C and has started freezing up. so ive decided its time to build a new mid range pc.
these are the specs...my budget is around 750-800AUS.

q8400 $228
asus p5q3 $195
corsair ddr3 xms3 2x4gb $102.3
gbyte 1gb9800gt or asus 512 9800gtx $180
intech 500w dfbtx psu $ 55


this build is based on no research. i play games like gtr evolution...a racing sim.


would this build be sufficient and what parts could be better suited to my price range

Hi...Is it Q8400 or E8400 that you have specified ...
And are you buying parts from MSY ?
You can do better with an AMD, ATI config for that price range as intel LGA 775 Socket is nearly dead and intel wont be launching newer CPUs for that socket...

Here is a config that you can consider...

Gigabyte GA-MA770-UD3 AMD 770 Motherboard ATX - DDR3
2x2GB DDR3 GSkillz
MSI GTS 250 1GB
Seasonic550W PSU

Total - Around AUD 850
And this setup would be very powerful compared to your previous one...

yeh it was q8400 and yes most likely the parts will be bought from a mixture of centrecom and msy depending on who has it cheaper. is it possible to get a good board that still supports ide..i have a 200gb storage drive that i dont want to go to waste

Yes nearly all the mobos still provide 1 IDE slot...
