I just put together a new pc, and when given power and turned on it powers on for a few seconds, then turns off again. Can't figure out the issue. Any and all help is appreciated.

Specs:
Intel Core i5-4690K
Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
Gigabyte GA-Z97X
G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2x4GB)
Seagate Barracuda 1TB
Gigabyte Radeon R9 290
Corsair 500R Black ATX Case
TS650 PSU

Have you connected the power supply to the motherboard in two places / are the cables properly plugged in? There was a post like this earlier this week where the guy simply hadn't pushed the cables far enough into the motherboard to hear the click.

Also make sure there is no metal touching the motherboard where it isn't supposed to, like a loose screw or somethnig like that.

I went and checked, and it seems like there's another place to plug in the power supply on the motherboard, I had only plugged it in one place. The other place has 8 pins, and one of the cords coming off the power supply has a 6 pin end and a 2 pin end that sort of snap together, so I'm assuming that's where those go. I can't seem to get both of those ends to snap together and fit in place, though. Maybe I'm just doing that part wrong?

Well thats definitely the reason why it isn't working. Are you sure there are no more cables for the power supply in the box that fits? If not, keep fiddling with those two cables and try to merge them -> hold the 6pin one with the bottom facing down on a table (as if the table was the motherboard), then "plug" the 2 pin cable into place by pushing it down onto the table right next to the 6pin one, there should be a "track" which allows you to merge them together

There isn't actually any "track" on it, just a small lip which seems to be blocking it from fitting. Just a tiny little lip on the 2.

There was another connector! Don't know how I missed it. It was a 4+4 and it fit like a dream. Thank you so much!
