New build, sli, i7. Will all this work together? and suggestions.

The Antec 300 is a nice budget case but it's small and trying to fit dual cards in it along with that heat sink is going to be a tight fit to say the least. I would find a larger case

Nice build. From what I can see though that 2TB Pipeline HDD you've listed is only 5900rpm? Id suggest looking into a 7200rpm HDD - sometime like a WD Caviar Black.

The Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD3P motherboard is work of art. I too was pondering whether to get two GTX 560 TI's or just a GTX 580 I decided the later as it would be cheaper.

I wasnt sure of the RPM of the HDD, defs change that, and the antec 300, didnt they just use that for the system builder marathon? with the 2 gtx580s?

I'm personally not a fan of buying two card right off the bat in a new build. It means if you ever want to gain more GPU power you need to buy 2 new cards, rather than add another in SLI.

Your best, mid-budget option would probably be to just buy a single 6970 for now. Then add another in a few months-1years time or whenever you feel you need more power. 6970 will max out all current games, and leaving the option to add another card later on provides a nice upgrade option. 850w PSU recommended.

Or just go the whole hog and slam a single 580 in now, a 1000w PSU, and slam another 580 in when your bank balance catches up again 😛

Antec Three Hundred Illusion was used in the $2000 build.

Case is down to personal preference Buy something YOU like, not something other people like

Any mid-tower case should be fine, just make sure there's enough space for the 580's and there's some adequate cooling options (not just front intake rear exhaust). Side fans are recommended as are roof fans. (Side to blow cool air onto SLI cards, and roof for extra exhaust to get rid of all that warm air inside the case).

Personally I love my CM Storm Scout, it serves its purpose well with great cooling. The more expensive ENFORCER is also a nice case, IMO.

Short term, yes it is cheaper. But long term SLI 580's are obviously easily going to outlast SLI 560's.

I still think you should consider the middle option, a single 6970 or GTX 570 followed by an upgrade in 6months time or when you see a cheap offer, and buy a second card for SLI/Crossfire then. This would also leave some money spare to buy an SSD?

i forgot to say, i am gonna upgrade to ivy bridge this time next year(if money permits), i really don't want to get a 570, it seems like the middle, pointless, when is 7000 series expected? probs gonna build this in November so if there out...

I think G.Skill Ripjaws are cheaper and perform the same? EDIT: NVM Sniper is $2 cheaper.
750w PSU ~ 850w recommended for SLI, 650w for single card. Its worth going one way or the other rather than overspending/falling short.

Nice budget Chances are ALOT will have changed by then. Stick around the forums and see what's being recommended over the next few months and it will allow you to make much more informed decisions when you come to building yourself

When you do come to build, try to stick with Socket 1155 (unless things have changed by then) since it seems to offer the best upgrade path currently.
