New build starts but then nothing

I'm new to building a PC. I've got it to turn on, the CPU fan starts spinning, motherboard lights come on and the GPU fan is on... but then nothing else happens. The case fans aren't spinning, nothing comes up on the display and there aren't any beeps or anything.

What should I do first? Could it be the CPU? Please god tell me it isn't the CPU.

My specs are:

MSI B350M Gaming PRO
Ryzen 5 1600
Patriot Viper 2x4gb DDR4
Superflower 350W Golden Green HX
Geforce GTX 1050Ti

Sorry for not posting my components, I've updated now. Rechecking that guide I think the memory is possibly the culprit because I might have been too nervous about pressing it in too hard.

The bit about the plastic guard on the CPU has me worried because I don't remember their being one on my R5 1600.

It's getting too late to test now but I'll start with the memory in the morning.

Plastic guard only comes with Intel boards, since the pins are on the board, not on CPU. For AMD, pins are on CPU, so there so no real need to cover CPU socket with guard, since there is nothing fragile to protect.

Thanks. It works now. It turns out the memory wasn't seated right and the ATX power cable wasn't either.
