I’m looking to upgrade from a fairly old processor/mb. I will be using my SDD and GTX 770, so I am good there. I’ve looked at processors and motherboards, but have no idea what I need.

This is going to be strictly a gaming PC. I want to game at 1440p, and don’t foresee a move to 4K anytime soon. I have no interest in overclocking. Looking for MB/processor (intel)/RAM suggestions. Budget is $500+/-.

I am aware my graphics card is going to hold me back, but am going to wait for the crypto bubble to burst before I upgrade. I would like a new system that will be able to handle 1070ti/1080 when I make that move.

Solution
EDIT: DRagor has a much better build.

This is the best i can give you, RAM is super expensive right now.

If you can wait, i'd recommend you buy a B360 motherboard instead of a ultra cheap Z370 motherboard, you'll pay way less with very similar features:

I really do to be able to game like I want to, but I just refuse. Waiting for the joy of watching the crypto bubble burst.
