New Build Thoughts

Hi. I recently won £900 online, and decided I would use the winnings to buy a new PC. I'm not great with computers, or what all the different specs mean, and I've never built a computer before but you've got to start somewhere, so I could use your guys help. Mostly I'm just unsure that I've got all the compatibility right, I really don't want to spend all this money to then find out the parts don't work together.

Approximate Purchase Date: This week or next week.

Budget Range: up to £950.

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming and surfing the internet.

Parts Not Required: No peripherals or OS required. Just the tower and its internal components.

Parts Preferences: None really.

Overclocking: Maybe.

SLI or Crossfire: No.

Monitor Resolution: 1366 x 768

It totals up to just under £940 (including a couple extra little things).

Hopefully you guys can let me know if there's any compatibility issues, or if any of the components seem good but are actually not that great. My main concern atm is the motherboard, it was originally part of a bundle with an i7 7700k but in the end I thought that would be a little overkill for me and changed to the i5, and I never bothered changing the motherboard cos it seems nice but maybe it's a bit pricey and there's a better value motherboard available.

As for the SSD, I forgot to mention I do actually have a 120gb one in my current PC that I can reformat and use in the new one.

The only other concern I have is with that power supply. It doesn't seem to be 80+ certified, and the wattage is 400 max, which scares me a bit. I would get something in the 550w at least 80+ variety. It may seem like spending a lot on a PSU is wasted money, but you're essentially buying insurance that your PSU won't blow up.

I see. Does the difference between bronze/gold make much of a difference?

Both of which put me a little over the £950 but I'm ok with that, it may just mean I'll have to wait until I get paid to buy things.
