New Build.

Issue: When booting up GPU fails to provide signal. Integrated GPU works. MB shows VGA_LED lit. if reset boot may sometimes provide a No Signal signal to the monitor otherwise dead. tested on secondary bench. GPU works fine. Was able to boot up into UEFI settings and windows from old HDD a few times but suddenly stops providing signals again with same settings after reboot.

i have tried rebooting. resetting and other sockets for GPU.
Heres and image of the MB and GPU sector.
If need any more info just ask and i will provide.

What cable did you connect from GPU to monitor?? If it's DVI or HDMI to VGA you need an active adapter

Look at the sticker on the mobo. Are the last 4 numbers 0809 or higher?? It needs to be 0809 or higher to support that CPU

Core i7-4790K (4.0Ghz, 4C, HT, L3:8M, HD Graphic, 88W, rev.C0) ALL 0809

Display port. GPU has its own Display port port.

Asus MAXIMUS VII RANGER Intel Z97 ATX Haswell Socket 1150 4x DDR3 PCI-E3.0 RAID CrossFireX SLI USB3.0 SATA3 Onboard VGA DVI HDMI. Um let me try to find the sticker. Serial ends with:2660. Check number is 5682. not sure if thats the numbers you want.

Not the serial it's a long sticker if the mobo has been installed it maybe near the top

On this mobo it's to the left of one of the fan headers (not the same mobo as yours tho)

There's no 2660, or 5682 BIOS.

It'll be one of these 0601, 0707, 0809, 0904, 1003, 1104, 2012, 2601, 2702, 2801, or 2902

I know the CPU works fine as I have booted into windows using the HDD from an older desktop.

the VGA_LED lights up usally at b4/b6 then goes to A0 then A2 and some times AE. but usally A2 is the normal point.

I'll have a look. but the PSU is new. it just was in a dusty workshop when being built. i'm worried it might be the GPU drawing more power then PSU can supply? thus the no graphics issue?

welll i moved the windows HDD back and it booted up. but it only worked to provide graphics when i used the intergrated GPU and disconnected the external GPU.
and other wise its just not gonna give any signal as long as i use the external GPU. even if i have the windows HDD in.
