Hi,

I am looking to build a new PC with the 5900X

I have made a list with parts that I think should be good enough but as I am not expert so I rather ask first.

Below please find my list of parts

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/wnRtsX

For now I will not buy the GPU as I will use an older one since I dont have the budget for it, put I put in there for the future.

I am not interested in OC too much but I might do it as the main purpose of this pc is to use with VMware stuff.

Please let me know your opinions and if there are any components that I could switch to a better ones around the same budget.

Also performance wise is better to have 4x8gb of ram or 2x16gb of ram? As price wise is better the second option and performance to my knowledge is also better but again, I would rather ask first.

Thanks for your time!

Solution
I would switch out the GPU for 3060TI,ram for a faster one,and a better powersupply, and a new case.
Something like this :

5900X should do you well both as a gaming and workstation cpu.
The NH-D15 is awesome.
The motherboard has Q Flash Plus which lets you update the bios without a 3rd gen cpu, since you are going to need a bios update for 5900X to work.
Faster ram is always benefitial with Ryzen, stayed at CL16.
1TB of m.2 storage should be enough.
There isnt a significant difference between 3060Ti and 3070,both perform the same, its just that the 3060Ti is cheaper.
The be quiet! case has better airflow in my opinion.
And the PSU might be overkill for now but you never know when you are going to need more wattage and the last thing you need is being psu limited.

Thank you so much for your answer. Definitely I will adjust my PC build now but I remember seeing some test which shown that the 5900x runs best with 3200mhz speed, could that be true? Or maybe It was about something else? Since I also tend to agree with having more mhz should be better.

There is no way you get less performance with higher frequency, its just imposible.
Also i forgot to mention that is better to have 2 sticks of ram instead of 4,since there isnt much difference between the two and 2 sticks are cheaper. And you can add 2 more sticks if you want.
