New build won't boot from Optical Drive

Hi,

The Asrock z87 Extreme Bios recognises the blu ray drive (PIONEER BDR-209DBK), but I can't make it boot. Nothing happens, but a message that no device was found ("Can'tfind any devicew"), but than in the BIOS the blu ray is listed and I think I correctly selected it in the boot sequence.(Tried it with an Windows 8.1 OEM as well as an Linux Mint 17 DVD).
I tried different configurations in the BIOS. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. ... In the end it just says "Reboot and Select proper Boot device. Or insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key"

just to be sure, you set the blu-ray drive as the very first item in the boot order, right?

Try the disks in another computer, just to be sure nothing is wrong with them. Does the drive require you to install a driver? Could be the drive is just a bad drive, it happens.

Yes it's the first. I tried all kinds of variations...

The Linux MInt 17 disc has allready been used succesfully several times.

How can I install drivers for the Blu Ray as I still have no OS installed?

if the disks work elsewhere, tru swapping out the blu ray drive for a drive from an old PC.. any SATA drive should fit

Yes, it works perfectly well with an old DVD drive. I just hope the Blu Ray is not broken.
